Our Story

The Padu Works Story

The name says something. In Malay, padu means solid, firm, well-constructed โ€” the kind of thing you can stand on. That is the standard we hold ourselves to.

Padu Works began as a small practice focused on a straightforward observation: many Malaysian SMEs are run by capable people who simply don't have time to step back and look at the structural questions โ€” how cash actually moves through the business, whether the underlying model still makes sense, or what regulatory obligations sit ahead of them. Those gaps don't fix themselves.

We designed our services to fit into real business calendars, not stretch indefinitely. Each engagement has a defined scope and a clear endpoint, and it produces something written that you can use after we've left.

Our office is in Kuala Lumpur, but we work with businesses across Malaysia. The Malaysian context matters to us โ€” the regulatory landscape, the banking environment, the mix of industries that characterise SME growth here โ€” and it shapes the advice we give.

Our Mission

To help Malaysian SMEs navigate financial, strategic, and regulatory challenges with clear, structured advice that leads to concrete action โ€” not more uncertainty.

What We Value

  • Clarity over complexity
  • Outputs you can actually use
  • Respect for how businesses actually operate
  • Proportionate advice for your scale

How We Work

Standards We Hold Ourselves To

Confidentiality

Client information is treated with care. We do not discuss or share details of one client's situation with another. Data shared with us is used solely for the engagement at hand.

Independence

We are an independent practice with no affiliated financial products, commissions, or referral arrangements. Our advice reflects your situation, not an external commercial interest.

Written Outputs

Every engagement concludes with a written deliverable โ€” a report, synthesis, or framework โ€” so the value of the work doesn't disappear when the engagement ends.

Clear Communication

We communicate in plain language. Jargon and unnecessary complexity don't serve you well, so we avoid them. Reports and advice are written to be read, not filed.

Scope Discipline

Engagements start with a defined scope. If circumstances suggest additional work is needed, we discuss that separately. We don't expand scope without your agreement.

Honest Assessment

We share what we find, not what we think you'd prefer to hear. That includes situations where our assessment points to challenges rather than opportunities.

Consulting Built Around Malaysian SME Realities

Malaysian SMEs operate within a specific set of constraints โ€” Bank Negara regulations, SSM compliance, SST obligations, sector-specific licensing from relevant authorities, and access to SME financing facilities. Understanding these layers is not incidental to good consulting; it is central to it.

Padu Works focuses on three areas where SME owners consistently benefit from structured outside input: liquidity and working capital, business model coherence, and regulatory positioning. Each of these areas has practical consequences for how a business operates from week to week, and each responds well to structured analysis and documented recommendations.

Our consulting approach draws on direct experience with SMEs across Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, and Johor. We understand how distribution chains work in Malaysian markets, how SME banking relationships develop, and what regulatory agencies expect from applicants.

If your business is working through any of these challenges, we're worth talking to. The conversation costs nothing and tends to clarify things quickly.
